DESCRIPTION

Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by fungi and can grow on a variety of crops including cannabis. Development of fungal spores can occur naturally during cultivation or other subsequent stages of transportation, storage, processing when temperature and humidity are high enough to favour their growth.

BENEFITS

Mycotoxins may cause a variety of adverse health effects ranging from acute poisoning to long-term effects such as immune deficiency and cancer. Mycotoxins can find their way through the processing of cannabis flower and end up in extracts and cannabis products and their testing is important to ensure consumer safety.

At LuCan Labs we test for Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2 and Ochratoxin A, using Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry to achieve the highest sensitivity using approved sample preparation methods.
