DESCRIPTION

Use of contaminated water sources, soil, fertilizers and unhealthy environment like industrial sites all contribute to presence of heavy metals in the cannabis flower and/or concentrates. A human’s ability to flush out heavy metals is not effective and hence limits of ingestion have been determined.

BENEFITS

Heavy metals (Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic and Lead) are toxic chemical substances to human beings. They are carcinogenic. Their effects are often chronic and hence the necessity to analyze for their presence in cannabis products. Cannabis effectively takes up heavy metals from the above mentioned possible sources and stores it in the plant and these can therefore be transferred to humans through consumption of cannabis products.

LuCan Labs utilizes a Agilent 7800 ICP-MS which offers the best sensitivity as it can detect elements in the parts per billion (ppb) range to test for presence of these heavy metals and accurately quantify and report these against regulated limits. Samples are digested, atomized, ionized and detected using the highly sensitive mass spectrometer for arguably the best outcomes. Should the customer requires, LuCan Labs can also run an complete elemental analysis test.
