INTRODUCTION

LuCan Laboratories (Pty) Ltd is a testing facility, leading the way in Africa through extensive quality control with the main focus on the testing and analysis of cannabis in various matrixes. LuCan Labs also do water analysis. All analysis are supported by tested methods and continued research, with the end results supplying customers with comprehensive Certificates of Analysis (COAs). We also offer consulting services on the management of cannabis. We have a dedicated team of experts (Chemists and Biotechnologists) who ensure the provision of consistent results and analytical data.

Our main objective through comprehensive testing is to ensure that our customers have peace of mind that their product complies with public safety standards and that label claims are met. Our laboratory is fully equipped to test any form of cannabis; flower, crude, edibles, tinctures and distillates. LuCan Labs is in a secure location with access control via security in the main building and two biometric access control points before entry into the main laboratory.

Sample Receiving and Handling
At LuCan Labs we provide sample tracking throughout all analytical processes. For each sample received, a Chain of Custody form is submitted (click here to view), customer information and sample storage conditions, tests required and instruction on sample destruction are recorded. After receipt the sample is immediately logged into the order tracking system where it’s given a unique lab ID and order number. An order tracking summary is also generated to trace samples as it move through the various processes.

Photography and Visual inspection
Following logging in of the sample and sample identification, photos of the sample are taken; one of the sample itself indicating the packaging and condition it is received in and another photo of the content via a digital microscope. These photos are included on the COA. The microscopic picture itself is a test result for screening foreign matter contamination (fungi, mildew, mold or any debris) which are not part of the sample, another advantage is that it also gives insight about trichomes density and flower maturity.
